CRPEG Conciliation Update

The union and company met over the course of three days (April 1st, 2nd, 3rd) with the Company. With the aid of a conciliator appointed by the Minister of Labour, the parties reached some very basic resolutions.

We reinforced that you deserve reasonable and fair compensation given the increased cost of living. We asked the company to come back with a deal that you have told us that you deserve.

The union and the company have agreed to extend conciliation by one week. However, we won’t meet again with the company until we are a week away from a potential strike. We are meeting company from May 20thto May 22nd, 2025.

We will continue to provide frequent communication as we approach a legal strike position on May 25th.

CRB/CRPEG Sponsors Deep River Museum Days ( April 19 and 26,2025)

Your union, PIPSC, Chalk River Branch is inviting members and the community to visit two wonderful museums located in Deep River:  The Canadian Clock Museum and The Canadian Nuclear Heritage Museum. There is no entry fee, and we will have free coffee and Timbits™ .

Both museums are unique and are being run by great volunteers.  The Canadian Clock Museum has antique clocks and period artifacts including some old record players that work without electricity! It also has sundials for a great photo opportunity. The Canadian Nuclear Heritage Museum has reactor models, fuel and tools, radiation detectors, early computers, scientific equipment, and memorabilia.

Renfrew County Science Fair CRPEG Awards

Hello CRPEG members, Further to the communication provided by the company today, the CRPEG executives wanted to remind members that CRPEG members have access to options for leave including CLC personal leave day for your child’s education. Please refer to CRPEG leave type summary document on the CRPEG internal page for further reference.

You also have options for alternate work schedules (where your work hours are adjusted) that cannot be unreasonably denied by your manager. The company has a duty to accommodate your caregiving obligations and you can read more about what the Canadian Human Rights Commission says about this

CRPEG Negotiation Update June 27,2024

Hello CRPEG members,

Your Bargaining team met with the Company June 18-20. Both parties were able to present their proposals on various topics, including counters to some of previously presented proposals.

Key articles of discussions included joint consultation Non-Continuing Professional Personnel Committee (NCPPC), Institute representation, company rules, Career and Professional Development, Workforce Adjustment Process, and Employee Performance Appraisals.

We signed off on some previously agreed-upon proposals. We are also in the process of finalizing the CAAT pension language and moving some Company Policy language into the collective agreement. Monetary topics have not been discussed yet. 

Negotiations are progressing but there is still lots of work to be done by both parties. Your negotiations team is working on a variety of items to prepare for the next session of negotiations scheduled for July 23–25, 2024 with another session in September.

CRPEG Negotiation Update April 08,2024

Dear CRPEG Members,

We would like to provide you with an update on the recent negotiations held between CRPEG and the company. Over the course of three days, your negotiations team engaged in extensive discussions covering several topics. While the monetary aspect has not yet been addressed, we delved into key areas such as Grievance Process Enhancement, Hours of Work, and Remote Work.

Thank you to all of you who answered the survey on Hours of Work. Your input will greatly inform our deliberations on this important issue.

Throughout the sessions, an atmosphere of collaboration prevailed. We engaged in interest-based discussions, exchanging proposals and addressing each other’s concerns with diligence. We also were able to sign off some of the agreed upon administrative items. 

As negotiations progress, we find ourselves delving into the technicalities of the process. While the pace may seem slow, it is indicative of our commitment to thoroughness and precision.

Looking ahead, we have scheduled additional negotiation sessions with the company over the next several months. Our next meeting is scheduled for May 14-16.

CRPEG Negotiation Update Feb 29, 2024

Dear CRPEG Members,

We’re writing to provide you with an update on the recent round of negotiations between our union and the company.

The company provided their responses to our administrative proposals. CRPEG team reviewed and crafted a well-considered counterproposal. These exchanges are crucial as we work towards mutually beneficial agreements.

Engaging discussions were at the heart of this session. We delved into various topics, exploring real-world scenarios and carefully weighing options. 

In addition to addressing specific proposals, we took the opportunity to deliver a presentation regarding change in the Canada Labour Code related to time off in lieu of overtime, reasonable expenses, and break time. While we did not propose a specific resolution at this time, we brought this important matter to their attention and addressed any questions they had.

In regard to hours of work, it’s such an important issue that you will be invited to participate in a survey to help us develop a solution. We will be drafting a resolution based on your input, gathered through the survey.

Negotiations demand considerable effort to ensure fair and appropriate outcomes. Future negotiation sessions are scheduled for April, May, June and July. We continue to advocate for your rights and interests.

CRPEG Negotiation Update Feb 01, 2024

Dear CRPEG members,

We would like to update you on the negotiations held with the company from January 30 to February 1, 2024. During this negotiation session, both the company and the union presented their responses to the administrative proposals exchanged earlier. Administrative proposals address improvements, clarifications, and errors in the collective agreement. Subsequently, each party carefully studied the presented responses, took time for analysis, made necessary changes, and responded accordingly.

Throughout the discussions, a number of items were agreed upon. Certain items have been tabled for further discussion in the upcoming sessions. Notably, we had a fulsome discussion with the company on the dispute resolution process, exploring avenues to improve the process.

The negotiations are progressing smoothly, and the next session is scheduled for February 26-28, 2024. We anticipate continuing to foster productive and collaborative sessions in the future.
