Excess Vacation

As of 2012 July 25 (date of collective agreement ratification) CRPEG members who had vacation time in excess of the carry-over maximum had this time preserved under the label of “Vacation Reserve” (see attachment from HR). This vacation reserve may be accessed using the normal Leave Project and Task numbers in Oracle and then selecting “Vacation Reserve” as the type.

Members are under no obligation to use this time or any other leave type (banked time, vacation, company floating holidays) preferentially when charging leave time in Oracle.

While management may ask what type of leave you will be charging for requested time off, they cannot deny a request for time off for any reason other than “operational requirements” as per the collective bargaining agreement (see Articles 10.04 and 13.02).

CRPEG Promotional Material

At the 2012 PIPSC Annual General Meeting delegates defeated a motion for an increase in member dues, leaving PIPSC with an approximate deficit of $3 million in the 2012 operating budget.

In a cost cutting effort, to work towards a balanced budget PIPSC has issued a moratorium on the purchase of promotional material.

To do our part in reducing the PIPSC deficit, CRPEG will not be purchasing new promotional material this year.

We still feel that CRPEG/PIPSC branded items are useful for promoting visibility and awareness in the workplace. Please continue to make use of promotional material from previous years (hats, mugs, bags, umbrellas, etc.) in your workplace.
